Description
Medium: India Ink
The picture is only very slightly spoilery, since it does depict the Ark of Yamato. My description could get more spoilery
So, no. I didn't enter the Okami contest. I thought about it, but I was too busy actually playing the game (besides, I already have a Wii and I had no intention of waiting for the contest to be judged to get the game. heehee!)
I've been on a bit of an ink-work kick, it seems. I finished this in celebration of finishing Okami for the Wii (my fourth play-through if you count the three times I played through on the PS2). It was fantastically fun to actually have to "learn" all the brush-strokes again!
Okami, Beginning to End from right to left, starting with the door of light in Sakuya's tree, to the mid-point with the gate to the Moon Cave, and the end with the Ark of Yamato. Originally, I had planned to include references to all of the big boss battles, and while I could have easily included Oni Island, I couldn't think of a good way to portray the battle with Blight in the Emperor's body. The only really good landmark in Sei-An city to use would have been Himiko's palace, but that didn't feel right. And without something for that part of the game, the picture seemed unbalanced. So I just went with Beginning, Middle, and End
Anyway... it was fun. I might color it digitally sometime just to see how it comes out
The original piece will probably be placed in the Artshow at Otakon 2008.
